For example, a user connected at his office simultaneously through his PC and fixed phone may wish to receive IM and video on his PC and voice on his fixed phone. Then, when he leaves his office he can start a session on his mobile device and switch his preferences in order to receive IM and voice on this device and be unavailable for video. Once at home, he can again change his preferences to receive IM and video on this laptop and voice on his mobile device. The user's contacts, aware of his preferences and availability in a glance, act upon this information.
